Shenington Airfield has hosted gliding for over 30 years. We plan to be here for at least as long, supported by our Landlord who shares our vision for the future, as you can see here. EGC is the airfield operator…which means that gliding will always take priority.
4. LAUNCHING OPTIONS
You will be able to winch launch or aerotow. We’re in a minority of clubs within 50 miles that can offer both!
5. NO LAUNCH POINT QUEUES
The availability of both launch options means that you will soon be in the air…whether your preference is to fly circuits or to be dropped off at the nearest cloud before venturing on your cross-country flight.
6. ALL YEAR FLYING
Weekend flying happens all year round, thanks to our mix of tarmac and flood-proof grass runways. Group-organised midweek flying also happens throughout the main flying season….we rarely miss a good day.
7. OUR SITE
Our 80-acre airfield is the envy of many clubs. You can launch and land safely in all wind directions. And the nearby ridge offers soaring opportunities all year round. Shenington Airfield is only 15 minutes from the nearest M40 junction, and 90 and 60 minutes from London and Birmingham respectively.
8. CROSS-COUNTRY POTENTIAL
You will find that the airspace around us is remarkably uncluttered. That is why 500km flights flying in all directions appear on the BGA Ladder every year.
9. TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES
One of the many exciting new developments at EGC is our new ‘People + Progress’ scheme, where our Instructors and experienced pilots will support you to achieve your goals.

At £465, our membership fees are significantly lower than many gliding clubs. And we’ve kept the 2021 fees and tariffs this year. So, say goodbye to inflation for 12 months!
